Starting a wellness journey can feel isolating. Like any deep transformation, building healthy habits and prioritizing fitness can create distance from your old routine, your usual crowd, and even your own mindset. At first, it may feel lonely. Maybe friends and family don’t understand why you’re suddenly choosing morning workouts over late nights, or swapping comfort foods for balanced meals. They might even question your drive.
But remember, this loneliness isn’t a setback—it’s a sign. A signal that you’re on the right path. ✅
Growing Beyond What’s Comfortable 🔄
Even as a kinesiologist and coach who regularly promotes the benefits of fitness, I’ve faced my own setbacks—long layoffs, getting distracted, and watching my own fitness slip. For over a decade during my 20s, I averaged ~11 km a day, ran seven half marathons under 1:15, and a few slower 😊. I achieved a personal best of 1:11:09 (3:22/km) and competed in other disciplines and distances on the track, road , and cross country. I poured myself into training. Back then, it was just me, and a drive to improve. It was the routine and dedication that got me there.
Toward the end of my 20s, life shifted. I got married, welcomed my first child, Ellis, in 2020, launched my business, and had my daughter, Ada, in 2022. My priorities naturally evolved, and with them, my approach to fitness. Despite knowing how crucial consistency is, I’ve felt the challenge of returning to fitness after these life changes. The wellness journey isn’t always about reclaiming past peak performances; it’s about reconnecting with the daily commitment to health, wherever you are. 💪
The Climb Over the Summit 🏔️
We often think we’ll feel successful when we hit that specific weight, speed, or milestone. But real fulfillment comes from knowing you’ve earned each step, each achievement. The journey itself brings joy if you let it. The early mornings, the moments of doubt, the routines—they’re what make the final result meaningful.
Wellness is Paying the Rent Daily 💸
Progress in fitness and health isn’t a one-time effort; it’s a daily choice. Show up each day with commitment, pay the “rent” through effort and dedication, and watch your life transform. Even when you fall behind, the journey is still there, waiting for you to step back in. 👣
Setting Up for a Season of Good Habits ❄️

I look forward to sharing some of the wins and insights from this journey. Let’s keep each other accountable—check back soon to see how it’s going, and let’s keep pushing forward together. 🔥
